Four of us went out at midnight to Borders on July 16 for the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I was there to photograph the others were there to write a story and pick up copies of the sixth book. There were a lot of people--people all around the store just waiting for their ticket to be called so they could get their copy of the book.

At 12:01, the first box was opened.

They had a whole pallet ful of books that they were selling. Those with us had ticket number 1700-something, and they were at around ticket 300 when we left around 1am (we'd gotten tickets at about 11:50, so it was to be expected that they'd be so far in the tickets.) They stayed open till two am.
