We got to the field earlier enough to see pretty much all of the Texas vs UCLA game, which UCLA won earning them a spot in the championship. As for the Michigan vs Tennessee, if Michigan won then Tennessee would be going home and Michigan to the championship. If Tennessee won, then there would need to be another UMich vs Tenn game.

Since we got to the field so early, I checked out the roof

The ESPN camera guy is up there too. Oh yeah, by now you can tell that my photos for this entry are gonna be somewhat chronologically out of order.

Being up there makes for a cool view of stuff like line drills,

and player intros, along with some other stuff, but this entry is too big as it is, i'm trying to keep loadtimes down.

Oh and by the way, Oklahoma has some huge bugs.

Alright though, as for the game, it went pretty much like this. Michigan gets a hit.

Michigan gets on base.

Michigan gets out.

Michigan gets out two more times: end of inning, Tennessee is happy.

But then Tennessee goes up and gets out

and gets out again

and again

Michigan is happy.

This is pretty much how the whole game went. Michigan's previous game against Texas was exciting because you knew two really good teams were going at it. Against Tennessee, well, you wondered why you were still there. Ritter was keeping tabs on things but the bats just weren't there.

In the 10th or 11th inning UMich got some people on the bases

and ended up with runners on first and third. But then they got out.

And then it was Tennessee's turn...etc etc etc.

Runner barely makes it to first.

Here's what ended it. A Tennessee homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning. Tennessee wins 2-0.

The game lasted about three and a half hours--I think it got done around 2am or so. Tennessee was surprised. You could tell in the press conference that they hadn't expected to win. Scott had the entire article ready for a Michigan win and had to do some fast rewriting. People at the Daily waited for our story and photo.

So Michigan has to play Tennessee again (finally I'll get to shoot something besides a night game). If they win, it's on to Championships vs UCLA that same day. If they lose they're going home.
