Two sports reporters and myself drove to Oklahoma City to cover the College World Series of Softball. It's a 1000 mile, 15 hour trip.

What would a sports road trip be without getting pulled over by the cops? I figured it out, and pretty much one out of any two trips I've been on have had someone get pulled over. Scott's reimbursement check for gas is going to the State of Illinois.

We also took some time to play some chicken on the highway. Actually this is a semi truck being towed by another semi truck so that it faces backwards.

Can't escape construction. Roads were pretty good though, not a whole lotta traffic. Weird construction markers though.

Sure the people talk different, but you can always count on Stake and Shakes to be laid out exactly the same. Had we missed the first one, there were about three other Steak and Shakes that we coulda hit in the St. Louis area--pretty much one at every exit or so.

We drove right by St. Louis but unfortunately I had only my little camera out. So until we drive back after Michigan's done in the tournament (Which lasts the 2nd-8th or when UMich loses twice) and I have my good camera out, this is the best shot I'll have of it.

I couldn't go by without calling Katie, a St. Louis native. As I was redialing her after getting cut off, I saw this billboard advertising Cingular's great reception. A Cingular subscriber, I was going back and forth between zero and one bars.

1000 miles of bugs as seen at the gas station. We had to make three or four stops for gas.

The trip odometer changes over as we hit mile 1000. We left Ann Arbor round 10:45 and rolled into our hotel at about 3am. Check back in the next coupla days for more updates from the road.
