Mike Hulsebus Photography: Karen's Birthday

Karen had a birthday recently. And by recently I mean two months ago. Yes, finally, I'm updating my website. Bumpy cake (above) is a Karen birthday tradition. To celebrate her birthday, we had a bunch of friends over to play Till Death Do Us Part, a game we got from Ann Arbor's coolest nerd game store, Get Your Game On.

Basically, as you can read in the description, is a murder mystery where everyone gets to play a character and gets handed character info (on a character sheet devoid of STR or armor class). Everyone spends the night in character and goes around asking people questions to try and figure out who the murderer is.

Karen got to be the hippie yoga instructor. Lighting in the photos that follow is brought to you by my flash and a big, blank, white, wall to my left.

I played the rich groom whose wife got murdered. Note my excellent portrayal of pain and anguish.

Ciara had everything planned out as the wedding coordinator

Matt and Rachel were my American-Gothic-like parents

Ryan and Mer were wedding singers.

Demoree: always the debutante.

Brian the scuba-instructing ex-boyfriend likes rubbing things in your face.

Jen got stuck with with a male role. A male who had a thing for older women.

Sherry dilligently takes down notes for her next news article.

Joy was a pregnant woman that harbored no ill will towards anyone.

As was the case with last year, we also went out with Ciara to The Bang, Ann Arbor's favorite indie kid dance scene. This month's theme was the Solid Gold bang.

Ciara has a Golden Girls shirt for just such an occasion.

Without cool spangly things such as this, I wore a golden gift ribbon and called it good.
