Mike Hulsebus Photography:
Welcome to an update on my life. Let me tell you what's happened to myself and people I know in the past couple months.
On my birthday (back in February), Zooey tried to interrupt a special-rules game of Carcassone that Karen made up. Zooey likes to lay on my sweatshirts.
I blew out a candle on a Bob Evans biscuit while grow-your-own-animals grew in water.
Karen took me ice skating.
I demonstrated my skills. Note arm flailing.
New Life Church moved into its new campus home.
Karen did major organizing work for and singing in the celebration service.
New Life people--new and old--came to sing. I realized powerpoint slides made for good backgrounds.
For Karen's birthday, I took her out to Goodnight Gracie's and the next day we went to The Bang. The Bang is this dance
thing where all of Ann Arbor's indie kids get together and dance to indie music. Oh and they dress up for the theme. My
headband can be attributed to the "Glamrock Shamrock" theme. People go all out: Think, green m&m costume, gold pants.
Joel pretended to be emo.
The Beach House got broken into. Dems and Ciara lost laptops. Karen lost jewelry and (no kidding) a bunch of change. Zooey was skittish. Everyone was ok. [Ciara tells the whole story]
Karen looked off frame.
Zooey went outside.
All these cool people (one of which is our professor) went out to Breakfast.
We went here. I got pancakes.
The Daily's newly renovated building gained an area of refuge (a stairwell).
I wrote the last papers of my college career and ran into Heather at the fishbowl. I took a photo with a b&w disposable camera.
Karen and I went to Ninja Bang a month after the Shamrock one.
I was a ninja.
I turned four of my friends into nerds.
We played nerd games in a basement with cool light.
Someone rolled a 2.
Ciara tried a cartwheel when the Beach House BBQd on a nice day.
Karen completed one (and Ciara did too).
My groomsmaids (Stephanie, Katie, and Amber) threw me a six-months-early bachelor party. They made fries and went through a whole lot of work to decorate and throw a much appreciated Mike-Hulsebus-Themed Casino Night.
This of course involves games.
We dressed up. Angie lept into a group photo.
Joel (who, incidentally is going to be my best man) and I made the bachelor party more manly with arm wrestling, which I won (the time he let me).
Eston, Yin, and Adam froze in mid air and credits began to roll.
I wore boots and jeans to graduation and was glad I did.
Unlike in 2005 and 2006, I was not the guy behind the Michigan Daily's camera shooting graduation.
People graduated. Someone called that girl "Yellows" which I thought a fitting nickname.
Joel looked like a stock photo and got his graduate degree in EECS.
People packed the Big House.
A lot of people.
This girl fell asleep. It was early (for college kids). I got there around 8. My family woke up at 4am to drive out.
Bill Clinton spoke. I wish I had a way to bring in my zoom lens.
I found my people in the crowd thanks to cell phones.
Joel summed up everyone's feelings in one photo.
My dad took this photo of two Michigan Alums.
And that's what's new with me.
