Help. My last general-photos entry was in February. Time for some general photos.

Amtrak train Ann Arbor Gandry Dancer old station

Geez, how long ago was this? Oh, this was March when I was coming back from spending spring break sick in Grandville and my dad and I did some poking around before dropping me off at The Crows Nest.

Peregrine Falcon Burton Bell Tower Ann Arbor

Earlier this year two Peregrine Falcons took up residence in Burton Tower so they stopped ringing the bells so as not to disturb them

swing dance

Sometimes over in the Michigan Daily's photo corner, photo and online are done and just waiting for the other sections or for the printing company to call at 3:30 am. Sometimes this results in swing dancing. Looks like I've got one my final papers on my computer screen.

Mentos and Coke. Mentos. The Funmaker.

Alright, I dunno if you've heard about this one, but if you add Mentos and Coke together it makes the Coke shoot out of the bottle. Theres something in Mentos that makes all the carbonation come out of the soda at once. Mr. Mike Foss was in town one day and we gave it a try. See video below.

Now that may be a beautiful thing, but there are people out there that have done it much bigger. Check out such videos here and here (in the second one they make rockets)

fashion student

I took a couple shots for the Daily's fashion issue for one of the articles. They had a fashion student (pictured) take clothing from a store and modify it with cheap stuff.

She added the orange/pink thread stuff to the top and also did a pair of pants too (not pictured)

Robert Sabuda Pop Up Book Alice and Wonderland

Part of an Alice in Wonderland book by Robert Sabuda. Best pop-up book ever.

Attic

Over the summer, the Student Publications building is getting renovated. Traditionally, all the seniors go up into the attic on the day of making their very last paper and leave gifts for the next class of editors. We, juniors at the time, got to have a look around as we cleaned everything out.

AP Headshots associated press

Going through filing cabinets, we came upon these great finds: AP Headshots from the 80s. How it worked, i guess, was if you needed a headshot for a story (be it of Judy Garland, Larry King, or foreign politicians), you went to the cabinet and found the person you needed. They were just gonna throw these out so we spend a lot of time going through them and grabbing our favorites like they were trading cards.

Jennie Ritter pitcher

Poor Jennie Ritter and Michigan Softball. This excitement wouldn't last: there would be no trip to the NCAA World Series to defend their title this year. They lost in the super regional round.

Cat Fence

We took Zooey outside on The Beach House's fenced-in porch about a week or so ago. At one point I went around to the other side and it blew Zooey's mind to see me out there--she started looking up at the top of the fence, trying to figure out if she could jump high enough.

Splat is a great game.
