I got a call at 4am from Tommaso, one of the Daily
photographers that lives the same building that I do. He asked where I was, I told him "The Daily"
and he said "Bus, there was fire at our building." Turns out something in
the laundry room down on the basement level caught fire. While most people think "fire, get out
just in case," Tommaso, like any real photog, asks "you want me to shoot it?"

By the time I walked the mile from the Daily, anything that may've been happening
was wrapping up. There were still around five firetrucks there (plus one I saw leave as
I was walking down the street) and all the residents had been evacuated.

The Crows Nest was hangin out in Matt's car, waiting for word it was safe to head back in
I noticed Joel had this stack of papers and joked how normal people like
him think to grab important papers and get out while photographers grab their camera and
do what they can to get good photos. Then Joel pointed out he was just holding the papers from Matt's
most recent oil change.

Around 5am or so we got let back in and walked up the stairs
to go to sleep.
